Metro Gnome

Okay, honestly? I can't handle not sharing any longer. This week's Get Fuzzy is hilarious! Don't believe me? See below:

You can click on the images to make them bigger, too--you know, so you can actually read them. [Images courtesy of comics.com] But maybe reading things is overrated and I'm just behind with the times. It's happened before. Oh well.

Our Children

So I recently went to this website where I could submit a picture of me and a picture of Sam, and it would pop out a picture of what our kids will look like. Just because I'm sure you're dying to see the results, here they are:

Ella Elizabeth Kelly

We think this one is a pretty good fit, since both Sam and I had pale blond hair and light eyes when we were little. Isn't she cute?!

Frederick Lee Kelly

So the website definitely just sticks different hairstyles on the same face, so for this to be more accurate he'd probably have to be blond, but still. He's so dang cute! I hope our real kids are as cute as these generated ones. I'm just glad they don't look as weird as the generated kids on How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. Seriously.

My Adventure

Okay, so I've been saving this story for my blog, and now I finally have time to tell it.

My Tuesday morning adventure.

So on Tuesdays and Thursdays I've been dropping Sam off at school on my way to work (because for some weird reason, he likes being on campus as 6:00am. I know. Crazy. Personally, I think the campus is a little creepy before 7:30. It's so empty!), and when he got his stuff out, he was like, "Oh wow, honey, we're a perdiddle!"

And all of a sudden, it made sense why I couldn't see anything when I was driving on the freeway at a time in the morning when everyone should be asleep. Seriously, it was like a light bulb went off.

So I went on my merry way, a little excited to be something as interesting as a perdiddle, and when I got to about the University Mall, I saw flashing lights behind me. And I knew exactly why I was getting pulled over, because I'm not stupid enough to overestimate the speed limit more than once. Especially with how expensive the tickets are for said overestimating.

So the officer glanced at my license, insurance, etc., and then said, "So the reason I had you pull over is because one of your headlights is off."

Though not honest, I'd decided the best course of action was to play dumb. So I widened my eyes and said, "Really? Which one?"

Honestly, he looked a little relieved that I didn't know. Maybe he thought I was the crying type, and he didn't want to deal with it at 6:00 in the morning. And he totally would have been right, too. So he smiles, all friendly, and says, "The passenger side one, I think." Then he walked around to make sure for me.

I said, "Oh wow. Thanks for letting me know!"

He smiled again and said, "No problem. Just make sure to get it taken care of soon, okay?"

And of course I said, "Okay!" I mean, I'm not an idiot. So I was feeling pretty good as I drove away, both about my performance and about having such a pleasant getting-pulled-over experience. And then when I got to the light, he'd totally pulled up behind someone else. And since both of their headlights were shining brightly, I don't think they got off as easily as me. So I guess we both ended up having a good morning.

And that was my Tuesday morning adventure. Ta-dah!

High School Musical

Tonight Sam braved his fear of pre-teen entertainment to go see High School Musical 3 with me at the dollar theatre (which, by the way, is not the dollar theatre anymore--it's the dollar and twenty-five cents theatre! what's up with that?!). [Photo from cwlee1986.blogspot.com]

Isn't he sweet? It was totally awesome the second time, too (provided you had a good laugh at the corny parts). And the best part about it was that there were only, like, two kids in the theatre, which was pretty full--the rest were adults. Adults that were there because they like the movie. We were sitting next to the funniest group of guys (yes, you read right--guys), who made the most hilarious comments the whole time. But it was okay that they made fun of it, because you could tell they liked it. And they totally clapped and danced along to the music. It was awesome.

Oh, and we went to Olive Garden beforehand for salad and breadsticks, and the wait was totally over a half hour, but then Sam goes to the hostess, "Can we just sit at the bar?" and she was like, "Same food, same service," so we were totally finished with our meal by the time we would have just gotten seated. How totally amazing is Sam? He's a genius.

p.s. Mimi, if you're reading this, Sam doesn't think Zac Efron's look is soul-searching/searing. He says he just looks confused. I know. I don't know what I'm going to do with him.

Addicting

Wow, this blogging nonsense is kind of addictive. I can see now why I resisted for so long. The only problem is comments. How in the world are you supposed to let people leave comments?

Christmas was wonderful. My favorite present was the book that Sam got for me. He stole one of my stories off of my computer, uploaded it to some website, and had them print it--hardbound and everything. So now I have my book--something I've written--in paper format, looking like a real book instead of just a Word document. How amazingly awesome is that? He's the best husband in the whole world. :D

p.s. Somehow the comments work now. I guess I just can't add them to posts I've already posted. Weird.

Funny Story About Our Niece (Naomi)

My father-in-law decided he wanted to get Jeff (my brother-in-law), Jamelle (my sister-in-law), and Naomi to go for a walk the other night, and in spite of it being pitch dark (no moon yet) and freezing cold (26 degrees out), they bundled up and came along. Well, when my in-laws say "walk," they typically mean "hike."

As related by my mother-in-law:

So we went out in the forest, luckily in an area with an established trail, and started walking. Naomi was all equipped with her own head light that she was excited about, but as we were walking she was frustrated that she really couldn't see as well as she wanted (a.k.a. it didn't light up the night like it does your bedroom), so she moved it to her waist and then over her shoulder, traded lights with Jeff, but just couldn't make it light up like she wanted. Finally Jeff said, "Naomi, it's just dark! This is as light as it gets."

Well, then her feet started hurting, she fell down while she was trying to run to keep warm, her nose kept running, she was freezing cold...just plain not having a good time but trying to be a good sport. [My father-in-law] luckily could see that this wasn't a good idea and doubled back and cut the walk short. While we were driving home, [my father-in-law] started saying that this was just a "gear check" and next time we'll prepare for this and next time we'll do that and next time . . .

Naomi said, "Next time I'm getting a babysitter!"

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
