Addicting

Wow, this blogging nonsense is kind of addictive. I can see now why I resisted for so long. The only problem is comments. How in the world are you supposed to let people leave comments?

Christmas was wonderful. My favorite present was the book that Sam got for me. He stole one of my stories off of my computer, uploaded it to some website, and had them print it--hardbound and everything. So now I have my book--something I've written--in paper format, looking like a real book instead of just a Word document. How amazingly awesome is that? He's the best husband in the whole world. :D

p.s. Somehow the comments work now. I guess I just can't add them to posts I've already posted. Weird.

Funny Story About Our Niece (Naomi)

My father-in-law decided he wanted to get Jeff (my brother-in-law), Jamelle (my sister-in-law), and Naomi to go for a walk the other night, and in spite of it being pitch dark (no moon yet) and freezing cold (26 degrees out), they bundled up and came along. Well, when my in-laws say "walk," they typically mean "hike."

As related by my mother-in-law:

So we went out in the forest, luckily in an area with an established trail, and started walking. Naomi was all equipped with her own head light that she was excited about, but as we were walking she was frustrated that she really couldn't see as well as she wanted (a.k.a. it didn't light up the night like it does your bedroom), so she moved it to her waist and then over her shoulder, traded lights with Jeff, but just couldn't make it light up like she wanted. Finally Jeff said, "Naomi, it's just dark! This is as light as it gets."

Well, then her feet started hurting, she fell down while she was trying to run to keep warm, her nose kept running, she was freezing cold...just plain not having a good time but trying to be a good sport. [My father-in-law] luckily could see that this wasn't a good idea and doubled back and cut the walk short. While we were driving home, [my father-in-law] started saying that this was just a "gear check" and next time we'll prepare for this and next time we'll do that and next time . . .

Naomi said, "Next time I'm getting a babysitter!"

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
